Grasshopper is the visual scripting tool inside Rhino: you connect boxes with wires instead of writing code (rhino3d.com). vvvv is a visual programming tool for real-time graphics (vvvv.org).
For us: We built small tools in both. The Grasshopper tools run in Rhino on the studio PCs (Design and 3D software). They are all still in use. The Origin Infinite tools are on Origin Infinite, the 3D printing splitter is on 3D printing.
